San Francisco

The Europe of California, San Francisco is a charming town with the excitement and culinary scene of a cosmopolitan city. Here are the highlights from La Vita Isabella.

Brunch at El Techo, an Argentinian bistro that serves up delicious brunch specialties with a Latin flair, all on an open-air, sunshine-flooded rooftop overlooking the city skyline. Try the Watermelon Agua Fresca (tequila optional but encouraged) with the Cóctel de Camarón. And don’t hesitate to come back later at night for or past sunset; the rooftop transforms itself into a lively tapas bar serving small plates and artisan cocktails as the sun goes down.

Take a ride on the aptly named Golden Gate Ferry from the city to the seaside harbor of Sausalito, offering panoramic views of the city skyline and bridge, as well as a close-up peek at the island of Alcatraz—all from a locals-only perspective. When you dock in Sausalito, head due North along the water up to Cibo for fresh, organic, and local fare.

Spend the afternoon at Mission Dolores Park—but before you settle down on your picnic blanket, pick up an authentic Brazilian açaí bowl to-go at Bebebar, tucked into the Northeast corner of the park.

Spend the early evening at Samovar Tea Lounge in the lovely Yerba Buena Gardens. Don’t be deceived by the name; you can find a lot more than tea at this lounge. I’d suggest pairing a Bellini or a ginger grapefruit pressed juice with the asian fusion butternut squash dumplings. And make sure to reserve a seat in the outdoor garden patio—the light is especially brilliant in the golden hour just before sunset over the Yerba Buena Gardens.

Watch the sunset over the city skyline while sipping on artisan cocktails and nibbling on small plates at The View, a posh lounge environment with a giant palladian window offering a sweeping image of the San Francisco skyline.

Dine at 25 Lusk, a sleek lounge and restaurant tucked into the bustling SOMA (South of Market Street) district of San Francisco. Arrive early or stay late so that you can take in the ambiance at the bar to round out your dining experience.

Cheers!

xoxo, Isabella
